On September 21st, 2020 Robert Skulan (Hardware Bob) went to be with the Lord after a 17 month battle with Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer). Bob was born August 06, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI. He retired to Wakefield, MI in 2006 after closing R.S. Construction in Wausau, Wisconsin. He served as Boatswain’s Mate in the U.S. Navy between 1964-1968 on the ship USS Lowry. Bob worked for Bucyrus Erie in Milwaukee, Wis, was the owner of Bayfield Hardware in Bayfield, Wisconsin for more than 18 years and then later owned and ran RS Construction as a project manager in Wausau, WI. In retirement, he enjoyed remodeling, gardening and cooking for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ludwig and Delores Skulan. He is survived by his wife, Heather Skulan, brother Donald Skulan, sister Roseann Beaudoin and his daughters Cassandra Kebbekus, Michele Appleyard, Renee Skulan, Rebecca Skulan, and step-daughter Laura Fair. He is also survived by his grandchildren Max, Morgan, Brandon, Jacqueline, Taylor, Madison, Alex, and two great-grandchildren Charlotte and Brooke. Bob will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and other family.
A memorial service will be held at Gleason Mennonite Church (Gleason, WI) at 11:00 am on October 3rd followed by Military Honors at Gleason Cemetery and then a fellowship at the Gleason Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s name to Bay Cliff Health Camp (baycliff@baycliff.org or 906-345-9314) in Big Bay Michigan.
